Lifting the roof off a house

Using a shooting boom fork lift to lift an old roof off a house, then lift up all the materials to build a new one.

  • i would have use the crane

    Joe CorchJoe Corch8 timer siden
    • Yeah you're right that roof was pretty brittle it was not coming down in one piece

      Joe CorchJoe Corch6 timer siden

  • You can get away with all sorts of mad and dangerous ideas in America it seems. That was never going to work from just looking at the roof construction. No triangulation between rafters snd wall plates. Funniest thing I've seen for a long time. Thanks Andrew.

    • But the roof is gone.

      Andrew CamarataAndrew Camarata17 dager siden
  • The dogs are the best part about the videos. This does not seem to be a well thought out demolition. Too muddy. They need Johnny Jett from Barn Wood Builders to run the fork lift. Looks like the brick wall one part of the house seemed to sway....most likely loosened mortar joints.

  • Well, the "lifting the roof off" didn't go a planned but the goal was achieved anyway. That old roof was just too heavy. It could not support its own weight. To lift it off in one piece would have required a lot of additional work to reinforce it. It was worth a try and there was noting to lose. Good job!

  • I liked how, with all those Roofing Studs and Joist laying around, how they used brand new 2x4 to try to cross brace the Roof... Classic.... What are 2x4 $ currently? $5 each? That must have ended up costing a $Few Thousand more than planned.........? Only time in History, you can spend $200k to build a Home, with a $100k value.......
